CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #545 sketch

 hello crafters!

The new sketch challenge at CAS colours and sketches was designed by Nancy.  Such a great design lends itself to so many possibilities - time to get crafting!

I thought I would cut out the horizontal strip, making the die cut word part of the gap. The panel was lightly ink blended, then the trees and the merry were die cut with coloured die cuts inserted in the space. The tiny houses were die cut from stamped card, with contrasting window and door colours. I like how the soft colours still evoke a christmas vibe.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the gallery!

  • dies: Gummiapan tall trees, tiny houses, Newtons Nook holiday greetings
  • stamps: Darkroom Door woodgrain texture stamp, MFT bitty holiday wishes
  • inks: vintage photo, wild honey, lost shadow, evergreen bough, candied apple, squeezed lemonade distress oxides

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #544 colours

 hello stampers!

It's our colour challenge for September at CAS colours and sketches, and these colours were cleverly put together by Nancy.  Not usually colours I would combine but they actually play together nicely!

I used card in the 3 colours to die cut some eucalyptus sprigs, then clear heat embossed them, and added a little touch of white gelly roll pen for interest. I love how the clear heat embossing gives the dark colours some shine but gosh it's hard to photograph well.

The background was stamped and the same sentiment stamped, die cut and clear heat embossed.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the gallery!

  • dies: Alexandra Renke frame rectangle, square frame, MFT skinny strips, Gummiapan eucalyptus leaves
  • stamps: Penny Black grown with love
  • inks: pumice stone distress oxide

old enough

 hello stampers!

Today I'm joining in with the talented team at inkspirational where the theme this challenge is for a CAS card with the optional twist of using an animal. Right up my alley!

I began by stamping some curly looking wool in different colours then stamped the sheep twice and fussy cut them. The curly wool pieces were paper pieced onto the stamping. I used an inked leftover panel to die cut the wooden tub. The background was stencilled with neutral ink on a neutral card panel then die cut with a stitched rectangle. Tim Holtz sentiment was cut out and assembled on a die cut stitched rectangle.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • stamps: MFT ewe are the best, Darkroom Door woodgrain texture
  • dies: Paper Rose stitched rectangles, Gummiapan wooden tub
  • stencil: Paper Rose small drops
  • inks: antique linen, salvaged patina, shaded lilac, bundled sage distress oxides

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #543 sketch

hello crafters!

The new sketch challenge at CAS colours and sketches was designed by Deborah, and makes an awesome sketch for CAS cards!  Remember you can use any shape, as long as there are 3 in a column.

I used a gorgeous snowflake die. Cut 3 times from black card, cut 3 times from white card, inset the die cuts into the black card cutout then backed it with metallic blue paper.  The sentiment was die cut from metallic blue paper and white card and mounted on the panel. The metallic blue paper is really pretty but hard to photograph!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the gallery!

  • dies: Gummiapan snowflake, SSS thanks

no prob-lama

 hello stampers!

I'm joining in today with the mood board challenge at inkspirational. Such a gorgeous selection of colours, shapes and inspiration - the team have chosen a terrific mood board! I was reminded of those decorated llamas in Mexico and Peru, and it just so happens I have a llama stamp and die ;)

I used a stencil to ink the background, taking inspiration from the chevrons on the mood board. Then I ran it through an embossing folder for texture. The llamas were stamped, clear heat embossed then watercoloured, same with the cacti. I die cut many little flowers and leaves from different inked panels to make the llama decorations. The sentiments were stamped, clear heat embossed and die cut into a banner.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • stencil: Scrapmatts ST5080
