CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #535 sketch

hello lovely crafters!

It's time for our monthly sketch challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches, and I'm so happy to be hosting this month. I hope my sketch inspires you to create a card and share it with us!

This card is a little different from my usual creations - no die cuts but plenty of fussy cutting! I may have to lie down for a bit :) I wanted to do a fun one with the sketch and these cutie sheep gave me the look I was after. They were each stamped over stencilled card, then fussy cut and adhered with foam squares. The little heart was paper pieced and adhered. The background was ink blended lightly as well as the edge of the front panel.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the gallery!

  • stencil: Aall & Create lotza dotz

  • inks: dried marigold, tumbled glass, spun sugar, speckled egg, bundled sage distress oxides

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #533 sketch

  hello lovely crafters!

It's time for our monthly sketch challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches, and this sketch was designed by Joanne. Perfect for a landscape CAS card, but if you like you can flip it so it's a portrait orientation instead. We'd love to have you join us with your card creation!

I'm still using up all the leftover ink smooshed card panels, so decided to use a selection of the prettiest ones for my card! Hexagon shapes were die cut and arranged, then die cut buds were layered on top and the sentiment was stamped, die cut and adhered with foam squares.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the gallery!

  • dies: Alexandra Renke buds set 02, Hero Arts infinity hexagons, MFT bitty banners

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #531 sketch

 hello lovely crafters!

It's time for our monthly sketch challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches, and this sketch was put together by Michal. I thought this design was perfect for CAS cards and lends itself to many simple ideas! Although it's presented as a landscape card, feel free to flip the design to make it portrait.

I wanted to use up some ink smooshed backgrounds that are gradually multiplying by mopping up every time I ink something, so I chose this pink background. I stencilled over the top and also stencilled a white card the same. The sentiment was die cut twice and stacked, and the little word stamped on an offcut from the white stencilled card. The little bouquet was die cut and popped up on foam squares.

I'm a little surprised how pretty this one turned out - I'm not usually a fan of pink, blues being more my thing, but I'm quite liking this.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the gallery!

  • stamps: MFT bitty holiday wishes

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #529 sketch

 hello crafters!

Here's the first of our monthly sketch challenges at CAS Colours & Sketches, and this lovely challenge was put together by Jeanne. Since Valentine's Day is approaching, maybe this is an opportunity to put some love onto your card. Hope you'll join us in the gallery!

To keep is CAS, I chose to emboss half of the front panel. I thought the little lock and key were so cute, I couldn't resist putting them with the cut out heart. After die cutting them from a stencilled offcut, I rubbed foundry wax on them to make them look metallic. This turned out to be a simple card with no stamping!

The current AAA cards challenge #257 is also CAS with an optional twist of "love is in the air" and the current tictactoe challenge has first column: heart, red, punch or die cut, so I'll post this one in those challenges too!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the CC&S gallery!

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #526 sketch

 hello lovely crafters!

It's time for the sketch challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches and this time Nancy has put together a sketch perfect for CAS cards!

I used a panel of watercoloured card, die cut it into 3 rectangles, then stamped them randomly. The feather was die cut from a tissue box! Love the shiny surface and the swirly designs on them. Sentiment was stamped and clear heat embossed and popped up on foam squares.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Don't forget to check out our guestie Deborah's blog. We can't wait to see your creation in our gallery!

  • dies: paper rose feathers, spellbinders A2 matting basics

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #523 sketch

  hello lovely crafters!

It's time for the sketch challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches and this time Lucy has proposed a very versatile slimline card design with the detail in the centre half. I don't often do slimline cards, but this design makes it easy to create a slimline card, CAS style. I chose a mini slimline with 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" dimensions.

The background was ink smooshed, then wet stencilled and stamped with the same colour ink. I used a new to me die, cut it several times from white card then ink blended in several colours. I die cut it again from gold paper and just used the pine cone to adhere over the brown inked one.  A few tiny gold stars were adhered in the pine branch. The sentiment was scrabble stickers and the panel was backed with more gold card.

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #521 sketch

  hello lovely stampers!

It's time for the sketch challenge at CAS Colours and sketches and this time I have put together a classic design with 3 squares in a row. I chose to keep it a landscape design.

I found this washi tape when I was cleaning out my cabinet (totally forgotten!) and thought it was so pretty. The 3 squares of vellum have paper pieced succulents laid over them, in an echo to the background washi tape. Some subtle bakers twine underlines the tape.

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #516 sketch

hello stampers!

It's time for the sketch challenge at CAS Colours and sketches and Jeanne has a sketch perfect for CAS creations!

The background was stencilled just along the vertical stripe loosely, then stamped with the mini seed head in second generation. I used some design paper for all the coloured die cuts. The butterfly was edged in ink and adhered with foam squares. The happy birthday sentiment was die cut, stamped and white heat embossed.

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #514 sketch

 hello lovely stampers!

It's time for the sketch challenge at CAS Colours and sketches and Shannon has proposed a very versatile sketch on a square background.

The background was a leftover from some ink mopup with some wet stencilling over the top. This was ink blended around the edge and layered with black card behind. The butterfly stamp was clear heat embossed for shine. Shout out to Chris Stokes @chrissieannie who has used these mini butterflies on her cards and I thought they were so gorgeous I had to get the die!

The sentiment was also clear heat embossed, edged in ink then popped up on foam squares.

It's quite hard to take a photo of the black embossing, but it's quite shiny irl. Thanks so much for spending some time with me today. With such a versatile sketch, we'd love to see your card in our gallery! Big thanks to Lesley for being our fabulous guestie - don't forget to check out her card too!

**I'm also entering this into a new to me challenge, alphabet challenge where the prompt is F is for Flying!

CC&S challenge #511 sketch

hello lovely stampers!

It's time for the sketch challenge at CAS Colours and sketches and Cécile has proposed a very versatile sketch on a square card.

I wanted to use up some die cuts that never made it onto previous makes - my little box is overflowing! Ended up using lots!

Some leaves were die cut from ink smooshed card, some from white and watercolored, and some from ink blended card. The flowers were all die cut from ink smooshed card in different colours. The vase was die cut from white and lightly stencilled, the sentiment was die cut from ink blended card and mounted on die cut vellum. The leaves and vase were adhered, the flowers were popped up on foam squares. Sentiment was adhered with the vellum.

Thanks so much for spending some time with me today. Make sure to check out the other design team cards, and our guest designer, Lesley!  We hope to see your card in our gallery!

CC&S challenge #509 sketch

 hello lovely stampers!

It's time for the sketch challenge at CAS Colours and sketches and Valérie has proposed an interesting sketch on a slimline card.

The inspiration for this card was Jo Rice from Lavinia Stamps. If you have a chance, spend some time watching her videos - they're always inspiring!

I began by cutting the card base and front panel. I admit I had to check on the size of a slimline card as I don't often make them - the most popular size is 3 1/2" x 8 1/2" which is quite a big area! I cut the front panel 3" x 4", which leaves so much glorious white space!

I began by ink blending around the edge of the base and panel. Then some ink was blended over a stencil held over both panel and card base. The stamps were applied just to the card panel.

The sentiment was die cut from inked card, clear heat embossed and stacked twice. Lastly the butterfly was stamped with a coordinating colour.

Thanks so much for spending some time with me today and we hope to see your card in our gallery!

CC&S challenge #507 sketch

 hello crafters!

It's that time again and we have the next challenge for you at CAS colours & sketches! This sketch by YoonYoung is so versatile - I even chose to do a christmas card!

I began by stencilling the background in distress oxide ink. The 'christmas' word was die cut from gold card and adhered onto the card panel.  The 'merry' was die cut from patterned paper with each letter from a different design but the same colours. These die cuts were stacked twice and adhered on top of the 'christmas'.

The little line was die cut from the patterned paper, stacked twice and adhered. Lastly some tiny gold stars were die cut and adhered, then the panel was adhered to the card base. Such a simple card but I think it has lots of interest.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! We're looking forward to seeing your card in our gallery!

  • dies: sizzix arctic bear, gummiapan merry christmas, MFT bitty banner die set
  • stencil: paper rose mark maker #1
  • ink: antique linen distress oxide ink

CC&S challenge #505 sketch

 hello lovely stampers!

It's time for the sketch challenge at CAS Colours and sketches and this time Joanne has proposed an awesome sketch perfect for CAS cards.

I just love making panels using the ink smooshing technique with distress oxide inks. You never know how it's going to turn out, but they're always beautiful and this one is no exception!

I cut one of the inked panels down to create the lower portion of the card, then stamped the sentiment in one of the blues used in the panel. The ice floe was stamped and die cut then inked gently around the edges and popped up on foam squares. The iceberg was die cut and inked around the edge and a little on the front to bring out the detail.

The polar bear was die cut from different white card, stacked three times and adhered on the ice floe with foam squares along his back to give him stability.

Thanks so much for stopping by today - we can't wait to see your card in our gallery!
