CC&S challenge #507 sketch

 hello crafters!

It's that time again and we have the next challenge for you at CAS colours & sketches! This sketch by YoonYoung is so versatile - I even chose to do a christmas card!

I began by stencilling the background in distress oxide ink. The 'christmas' word was die cut from gold card and adhered onto the card panel.  The 'merry' was die cut from patterned paper with each letter from a different design but the same colours. These die cuts were stacked twice and adhered on top of the 'christmas'.

The little line was die cut from the patterned paper, stacked twice and adhered. Lastly some tiny gold stars were die cut and adhered, then the panel was adhered to the card base. Such a simple card but I think it has lots of interest.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! We're looking forward to seeing your card in our gallery!

  • dies: sizzix arctic bear, gummiapan merry christmas, MFT bitty banner die set
  • stencil: paper rose mark maker #1
  • ink: antique linen distress oxide ink

CC&S challenge #506 colours

hello crafty stampers!

It's time for the colours challenge at CAS Colours and sketches and YoonYoung has proposed a lovely group of colours that reminds me of spring. We're looking forward to seeing your card creations in our gallery!

The front panel was die cut with a circle, embossed with little hearts, and popped up on foam squares. After die cutting the happy birthday circle die, I die cut the centre and replaced it with a die cut circle of ink smooshed card. This was then positioned into the aperture on the front panel and popped up on foam squares. The butterfly was die cut and positioned on the panel, with a few clear drops. The little hearts were hand embossed.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and we hope to see your card in our gallery!

  • dies: hero arts infinity circle, sizzix brushstroke butterflies, gummiapan happy birthday circle, fiskars texture plate hearts
  • inks: mustard seed, mowed lawn, twisted citron distress oxides

CC&S challenge #505 sketch

 hello lovely stampers!

It's time for the sketch challenge at CAS Colours and sketches and this time Joanne has proposed an awesome sketch perfect for CAS cards.

I just love making panels using the ink smooshing technique with distress oxide inks. You never know how it's going to turn out, but they're always beautiful and this one is no exception!

I cut one of the inked panels down to create the lower portion of the card, then stamped the sentiment in one of the blues used in the panel. The ice floe was stamped and die cut then inked gently around the edges and popped up on foam squares. The iceberg was die cut and inked around the edge and a little on the front to bring out the detail.

The polar bear was die cut from different white card, stacked three times and adhered on the ice floe with foam squares along his back to give him stability.

Thanks so much for stopping by today - we can't wait to see your card in our gallery!

  • dies: MFT BB Cool Day, MFT iceberg, Sizzix Arctic Bear
  • inks: tumbled glass, salvaged patina, salty ocean distress oxides
  • stamps: Altenew Ornamental Bliss, MFT BB Cool Day

get well soon

 hello stampers!

I'm joining in today with a couple of challenges: the paper players has a CAS theme with 'get well', and the current tictactoe challenge #197. I followed the left column down CAS, stencil, flowers.

I began by die cutting the letters from patterned paper using MFT bitty banner die set, adhered them to a black card panel and fussy cut the sentiment.  I used darkroom door small circle stencil, overlaid craft giraffe circle stencil ST1026 and gently ink blended across the centre of the larger circle. Then the circle shape was stamped with various stamps from paper rose solid flowers and leaves stamp set. I matched the colours in the paper with the ink colours. Tiny hearts, circles, and stars were die cut and adhered, around the adhered sentiment. Lastly the panel was backed with a red panel, then adhered to the card base.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

*Edit: Thanks so much to the team at tictactoe challenge for picking my card as the weekly designer's choice! And also to Joanne at the paper players for choosing my card as her fave. I'm thrilled!

a little birdie

 hello crafters!

I'm joining in today with the talented team at the paper players where they have a colour challenge this week: balmy blue, crumb cake, petal pink, so saffron.

I used a darkroom door small circle stencil to mask off a circle then used MFT rolling clouds stencil to lightly blend balmy blue ink. The birdhouse was die cut using paper rose birdhouses die set from crumb cake card, then I used darkroom door woodgrain texture stamp to stamp with crumb cake ink over the birdhouse. The roof was die cut from a scrap of pale yellow card. The bird was die cut from the same paper rose set from petal pink card, and popped up on a tiny foam square for dimension. The sentiment from Gummiapan was stamped using crumb cake ink, adhered to the panel and tied with some twine.  Finally the panel was adhered to a crumb cake card base.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
