CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #539 sketch

  hello crafters!

The new sketch challenge at CAS colours and sketches was designed by Shannon and is for a slimline card size. I chose a mini slimline measuring 6" x 3".

I thought I'd add to my stash of xmas cards which made me think of stars instead of circles! The stars were die cut from gold mirror card. The pine branches were die cut from green card and the pine cone was ink blended in brown, then arranged to create the banner shape. The sentiment was gold heat embossed and die cut with a rectangular stitched die.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the gallery!

enjoy the little things

 hello lovely stampers!

I'm joining in today with the talented team at inkspirational where the word prompt is 'frame'. They would like to see something in any sort of frame on your card. Easy eh?

The first thought I had was those movie or photograph film strips but the only die I have is a single frame so I put 3 together in a column. Die cutting them from black makes it so dramatic, I had to fill the frames with gorgeous colours.

Pretty much every coloured piece was die cut from ink smooshed or ink blended card - I always have rather a large collection and I rarely throw out any scraps ;)  Given the dark frames, I chose the brightest colours and then created the little ocean scenes. Love the little seahorse tail coiled around the seaweed :)  The sentiment was stamped and die cut, then offset with a black die cut and popped up on foam squares.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #538 colours

  hello stampers!

It's June already so here we go with our colour challenge at CAS colours and sketches. These pretty pastel colours were put together by Shannon and I thought they played so well together.

The background was stamped using a dauber to ink up the stamp to get a scratchy look. The flowers were die cut then coloured. The vase was die cut from white, and also from vellum to get the glass look insert. The sentiment was stamped then die cut and adhered with foam squares.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the gallery!

  • dies: Globleland vase, dandelions, Gummiapan sentiment banner
  • stamp: Globleland numbers
  • inks: mustard seed, mowed lawn, shaded lilac, kitsch flamingo distress oxides

autumn leaves

 hello crafters!

I'm playing along today with the latest Inkspirational challenge where the theme is the 'spotlight technique'.  It's been a while since I used this technique on a card, but I do love the results.

I used an unbranded tree die, cut in white, then again for just the central part from an ink smooshed panel. This piece I then proceeded to stamp randomly with red, orange and yellow tiny spots and splashes. The trunks were ink blended brown. This was adhered to a stitched die cut panel that was watercoloured in blue, and I added some ink blending in green and a tiny ink smooshed birdie to finish off the spotlighted colour panel. Lastly, stamped and die cut the Gummiapan sentiment.

It's late Autumn here atm, and seeing the trees in a blaze of riotous colour is truly a beautiful sight. Thanks so much for stopping by.

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #537 sketch

 hello crafters!

The new sketch challenge at CAS colours and sketches is ready and was designed by Patricia. This design presents so many possibilities I wanted to do more than one card, but in the end settled on an elegant look for this lovely sentiment.

I used an ink smooshed panel for the numbers, gold heat embossed then die cut them. I only have one set of number dies and a couple of different sizes would have been nice but I just cut them down to make them smaller, to keep with the sketch. The sentiment was die cut from gold heat embossed card as well as white card, then backed with black die cuts. They were adhered to the vellum with another set of letters behind to bring some dimension.

The gold is a bit hard to photograph well but here's another angle to show the shine! It's really quite pretty.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the gallery!
