CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #567 colours

 hello crafters!

We have a new colour challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches and Deborah has put together a lovely subtle colour palette for you to use.

I decided to create a square card - I really like the central square within the square look. The background was stamped with the challenge colours, then the little dandelions were stamped and white heat embossed. A single dandelion was die cut and adhered. The sentiment was stamped and die cut.

Thanks so much for stopping by - we'd love to see your card in our gallery.

  • dies: Gummiapan dandelion, MFT itty bitty strips, Hero Arts infinity squares
  • inks: victorian velvet, salvaged patina, evergreen bough distress oxides
  • stamps: Lavinia stamps mini seed head, Gummiapan sentiment

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #566 sketch

 hello stampers!

This month's sketch challenge at CAS colours and sketches was proposed by Deborah. A throwback to a couple of years ago and such a clever CAS design!

I'm sure everyone has days like this, but this sentiment really rang true for me when I made this card! I think I got zero things properly done. Oh well!  The background was watercoloured then stamped with spritzed ink. The martini glass was die cut from silver card, stacked 3 times and adhered. Sentiment from Tim Holtz small talk stickers.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the gallery!

  • dies: Paper Rose martini glass, Spellbinders mini blooms and sprigs
  • inks: blueprint sketch, shaded lilac distress oxides

 hello crafters!

For this month's colour challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches, Joanne has used one of the new in-colors - a gorgeous strawberry colour. What speaks to summer more than strawberries?

The background was stencilled in a neutral tone, then the ice cream was die cut and adhered with foam squares. The sentiment was stamped onto the panel.

Thanks so much for stopping by - we'd love to see your card in our gallery.

  • dies: Gummiapan ice cream, Hero Arts infinity rectangles
  • inks: lost shadow, rustic wilderness distress oxides
  • stencil: Simon Hurley happy hearts

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #564 sketch

hello stampers!

This month's sketch challenge at CAS colours and sketches was designed by Joanne. Doesn't it capture the essence of CAS perfectly?

I wanted to do the leaf as a trio of die cuts from ink smooshed card. To create some layering I die cut out one leaf inserting it into the front panel, adhered another leaf, then stacked 2 of the third leaf and adhered it. The sentiment was stamped and die cut then mounted on foam squares.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the gallery!

  • dies: Gummiapan happy tag, eucalyptus, tickets, Hero Arts infinity rectangles
  • inks: tumbled glass, shaded lilac, carved pumpkin distress oxides

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #563 colours

hello stampers!

For this challenge Shannon has put together some beautiful soft colours for our next challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches. Such summery colours suggest some fun!

I created a simple card using sweet milkshake dies. Perfect for a summer birthday! The coloured milkshakes were inserted into die cut squares, then mounted on foam tape. Sentiment was die cut and adhered.

Thanks so much for stopping by - we'd love to see your card in our gallery.

  • dies: Gummiapan milkshake, sentiment
  • inks: salty ocean distress oxide

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #562 sketch

hello stampers!

It's time for the latest challenge at CAS colours and sketches which this month was designed by Shannon. She has designed a landscape sketch with 9 white rectangles making up the design. It leaves the background to be anything you want!

I used an ink smooshed panel as my background, die cut the little rectangles and adhered them on top. The sentiment and heart were die cut from ink sprayed card, with the shadow die cut from vellum. The little lizard was die cut from the same ink sprayed card, then lightly ink blended at the edges. I curled the little tail around the 'g' and adhered the lizard with a foam square - so sweet!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the gallery!

  • dies: Paper Rose hugs, heart, Poppy stamps whittle lizard, Alexandra Renke film strip (inside)
  • inks: peacock feathers distress oxide ink spray, peacock feathers, vintage photo distress oxide

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #561 colours

 hello stampers!

Laura has put together some vibrant colours for our next challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches. I figured a little goes a long way so I used just touches of these hues on a white card.

I love a hexagon and surely don't use them enough, so I embossed a panel then die cut a hexagon for the background. The butterfly was die cut, then the pieces ink blended. The sentiment was stamped then cut out using a hexagon right side up and then upside down to get the shape.

Thanks so much for stopping by - we'd love to see your card in our gallery.

  • dies: Sizzix brushstroke butterflies, Memory Box intricate mini butterflies, Hero Arts infinity hexagons
  • embossing folder: Recollections overlapping circles
  • stamps: Gummiapan happy birthday
  • inks: wilted violet, prize ribbon, uncharted mariner distress oxides

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #560 sketch

 hello stampers!

We have the latest challenge for you - it's a great sketch at CAS colours and sketches designed by Laura. She has designed it as a square card but you can choose to change it to a different shaped card. I kept it square and centred the focal area, but only gave the illusion of 2 of the squares.

To give you an idea of size, the card is 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" and the squares are each 1 1/2". This left a border of about 1 1/4" all around the squares.

I wanted to create different layers so I die cut out 1 square then reverse stencilled the card panel behind. Another square was embossed, ink smooshed and adhered on top of the front card panel. The little cogs were die cut from ink smooshed card then adhered across the last 2 squares. Such a fun one, I think I have a new favourite colour combo!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the gallery!

  • dies: Gummiapan cogs, safety set, Trinity Stamps bitty tags, Hero Arts infinity squares
  • stencil: Stamperia gears and cogs
  • embossing folder: Sizzix mini foundry
  • sentiment: Honey Bee Stamps bitty buzzwords
  • inks: salvaged patina, hickory smoke, frayed burlap, mustard seed, vintage photo distress oxides

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #559 colours

hello stampers!

Joanne has put together some lovely colours for our next challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches. Such gorgeous colours reminded me of the ocean.

The background was sprayed with distress oxide spray. I think it gives a lovely result and I will be using it again :) Then it was stamped with white pigment ink which turns quite pale over the oxide ink. The elements were die cut then ink blended and adhered.

Thanks so much for stopping by - we'd love to see your card in our gallery.

  • dies: Gummiapan jellyfish, starfish, seahorse, happy birthday
  • stamps: Lavinia Stamps pink orbs, foliage set
  • inks: tumbled glass, chipped sapphire, peacock feathers distress oxides, Hero Arts unicorn pigment ink

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #558 sketch

 hello crafters!

We have the latest challenge for you - it's a great sketch at CAS colours and sketches designed by Joanne. Perfect design for keeping it CAS, and you can add a focal point however you wish!

I used a snowflake embossing folder for the strip on the front panel,  then die cut the branches from ink smooshed card. The birds were die cut from a watercoloured scrap. The tag was die cut, stamped and popped up on foam tape.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the gallery!

  • dies: Gummiapan branches, tag with a star, Poppystamps whittle birds
  • stamps: Penny Black grown for you
  • ink: tumbled glass, candied apple distress oxides

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #557 colours

 hello stampers!

Joanne is our host for this month at CAS Colours & Sketches and she has chosen muted colours that look so elegant together.

The background was stamped just in the corner and clear heat embossed. The die cuts were cut, inked and adhered. I think it makes for a simpler design using the big sentiment, but really adds a wow factor.

Thanks so much for stopping by - we'd love to see your card in our gallery.

  • dies: Hunky Dory ornate heart, Gummiapan hearty twig, love
  • stamps: Kaisercraft script
  • inks: victorian velvet, frayed burlap distress oxides

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #556 sketch

  hello crafters!

The latest challenge is a great sketch for you at CAS colours and sketches designed by Nancy. She wants you to use a mini slimline card size for the design. If you like you can flip it vertical or use a mirror image.

I used a 6" x 3" card base, and cut black and white strips to highlight the thirds. I wanted to use this bunny (for the first time) which I got in the Gummiapan advent calendar. I just can't take him seriously lol so I had to do a sassy sentiment :) I die cut him from ink smooshed card, as well as the numerous stars.

The hat was die cut from black card then a tiny strip of holographic silver star paper was adhered. Even though I could have gone a little crazy I held back to keep it nice and CAS ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the gallery!

  • dies: all Gummiapan
  • sentiment: Tim Holtz small talk sticker

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #555 colours

 hello crafters!

Nancy is our host for this month at CAS Colours & Sketches and she has chosen some gorgeous colours for us as inspiration. I thought they reminded me of the first flowers of spring - perfect!

The background was stamped with a random lines stamp and also with tiny dots. The flowers were die cut from ink smooshed card in pink and in green card for the outline, then the flower outline was roughly laid over some of the inserts. The sentiment was stamped, clear heat embossed and die cut, then mounted on foam squares.

Thanks so much for stopping by - we'd love to see your card in our gallery.

  • dies: Alexandra Renke artist flower set 06, Gummiapan tickets
  • stamps: Lavinia mini dots, Penny Black grown with love
  • inks: candied apple, seedless preserves, crushed olive, squeezed lemonade distress oxides

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #554 sketch

 hello stampers!

Suzy has designed a great sketch for the latest challenge at CAS colours and sketches. The design lends itself perfectly to CAS cards. The sketch can be flipped or made into a landscape card if you prefer. I decided to take it up a notch and made a shaker card!

I began by die cutting a circle in the front panel, then I die cut the happy birthday circle and adhered it over the top. The card base was stamped in the circle area, some acetate adhered to the card panel, some tiny hearts put in and then the card panel was adhered with foam tape to make the shaker. The smaller circle was adhered with little die cut presents and a couple of the tiny hearts then popped up on foam tape.

Such fun making a shaker card - I should do it more often. And these weighty fimo hearts shake really well :)

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the gallery!

  • dies: Gummiapan happy birthday circle, presents, Hero Arts infinity circles
  • stamps: Gummiapan make a wish, bring on the cake
  • inks: tumbled glass distress oxide

Suzy is hosting this month and she's got the latest challenge ready at CAS Colours & Sketches. This time it's a colours challenge and she has put together such happy colours.

The background was stencilled lightly, then stamped with the tiniest 'special delivery' stamp in the same colour. The mailbox, envelopes and hearts were die cut and ink blended. The sentiment was stamped and die cut into a circle.

I'm also joining in with a new to me challenge Inspire.Create.Challenge where they have a clean & simple challenge this fortnight - what luck!

Thanks so much for stopping by - we'd love to see your card in our gallery.

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #552 sketch

 hello crafters!

I'm happy to present our sketch challenge at CAS colours and sketches for January. The design reminded me of the beach so I went with a seaside theme. You can flip the design if you prefer, but I kept it a landscape orientation.

I used several colours of ink smooshing to create the water, then stencilled the waves ever so gently with white ink. The corner was torn to create the sea froth and it was adhered to a kraft card panel. The little shells and sea animals were die cut from ink smooshed card, some were given a little more ink blended colour. The sentiment was simply stamped with Versafine and clear heat embossed - amazing how dark it becomes on the kraft card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the gallery!

  • dies: Gummiapan sea shells, crab, starfish
  • stamps: Paper Rose tiny forest (sentiment)
  • stencil: Scrapmatts ST9074
  • inks: salty ocean, salvaged patina, peacock feathers, barn door, squeezed lemonade, abandoned coral, vintage photo, blueprint sketch distress oxides, Hero Arts unicorn

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #551 colours

hello crafters and welcome to a new year of CC&S challenges!

I'm hosting for January and we're starting with a colours challenge. These colours reminded me of falling leaves, so I did an autumn themed card.

The background was lightly ink blended. The leaf pile die was cut from kraft card, inked randomly then had some little leaf die cuts adhered over the top. I just love the little falling leaf dies with their curly travel - so sweet!

Thanks so much for stopping by - we'd love to see your card in our gallery.

  • dies: Paper Rose birdie, all others Gummiapan dies
  • stamps: Gummiapan
  • inks: antique linen, peeled paint, carved pumpkin, ground espresso distress oxide inks

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #550 seasonal

 hello crafters!

This happens to be our 550th challenge. Woohoo! What a terrific way to round out the year! We're proud of the milestone but we couldn't have done it without you, our family of crafters. So thank you to all who joined in, read our blogs, or felt inspired by our challenges - join us in celebrating for the last challenge this year.

This is our last challenge for this year at CAS colours and sketches and as is tradition, Patricia has asked you to take one of our 2024 challenges and make it seasonal.

I chose to use challenge #548 which has such lovely traditional christmas colours. The background was stencilled using a texture paste. The smaller die cut tree was adhered. The larger tree was stacked 3 times, and adhered with foam squares. The sentiment was die cut from silver card, stacked twice and adhered with the tree.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the gallery!
We wish you all the best for the holiday season and look forward to seeing you back again in 2025!

  • dies: Gummiapan pine trees, merry christmas circle, Paper Rose birdie
  • stencil: Aall and Create lotza dotz

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #549 sketch

  hello crafters!

This month's sketch challenge at CAS colours and sketches was designed by Patricia.  This one is perfect for a CAS layout with all the elements at the top of the landscape panel. You can flip the design if you prefer, or make it vertical. So many possibilities! I chose to make it a square card.

I used black card as the base, and die cut lots of little stars from ink smooshed card. A strip of vellum was stamped with the sentiments, clear heat embossed and wrapped around the front panel, over the stars. The 21 was die cut, stacked and adhered. The star outlines worked really well to stick the vellum down so it didn't bulge. The front panel was adhered using foam squares. This one is for my son who turns 21 just after christmas. Eeek!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the gallery!

  • dies: Alexandra Renke stars, Kaisercraft numbers
  • stamps: Gummiapan sentiments

CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #548 colours

   hello stampers!

It's our colours challenge for November at CAS colours and sketches, and Patricia has paired these very christmassy colours together.  In all the hubbub of christmas preparations, I think it's nice to have a calming touch of minimalism. Join us with a CAS card!

The larger square was ink blended and die cut.  The smaller square was die cut from coloured card. The sentiment was inked and clear heat embossed for shine. The pine sprig was die cut, ink blended then die cut again to fit into the smallest square shape.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. We'd love to see your card in the gallery!

  • dies: Hero Arts infinity squares, Couture Creations pine branch
  • stamps: Altenew warm blessings
  • inks: evergreen bough, antique linen distress oxides
