happy birthday

  hello lovely crafters!

I'm playing along with a couple of challenges today - inspired by the latest sketch at freshlymadesketches #fms605 and used the colours from the colorthrowdown #ctd762.

I used a cutout from some packaging that I thought looked like tree rings, and began with that! The leaves were die cut from ink smooshed card and backed with rust coloured card. The acorns were die cut from Kraft then lightly watercoloured to give them an interesting colour. The sentiment was stamped then clear heat embossed. Thanks for stopping by today!

  • dies: gummiapan acorn and oak leaf, MFT infinity circles
  • inks: candied apple, vintage photo distress oxides

depresso

 hello stampers!

I saw the new sketch over at freshly made sketches and knew exactly what I was going to make for the challenge! Doesn't happen often so I'm definitely taking this one!

The background was stencilled using Paper Rose lines stencil and ground espresso distress oxide ink, to make a gingham look in coffee colour! Coffee cups and sentiment are by Gummiapan.

First time cutting these coffee cup dies so I'm also linking up to Darnell's fabulous blog NBUS. Hugs to you Darnell!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

warm wishes

 hello fellow stampers!

I'm joining in today with a couple of challenges that I haven't played for a little while. I'm ready to get back into the swing of regular crafting if for nothing else than to regain my sanity after the xmas madness!

The talented team at justusgirls have a colour challenge this week and the sketch challenge is from the awesome ladies at freshlymadesketches, so combining the two works a treat.

I ink blended the background using blueprint sketch, chipped sapphire and black soot distress oxide inks then cut the rectangle shape. Another panel was ink blended with just tumbled glass and the Gorgecraft trees die cut from this card, the smallest tree adhered with foam squares. The little Gummiapan snowman was die cut and a tiny length of cotton was wrapped around him for a scarf. The sentiment from MFT Cool Day was stamped on an ink blended panel then cut to size, adhered with foam squares, with the snowman adhered to the piece. How funny that the snowman and sentiment on their own represent the sketch!

I must say it's ironic sending 'warm wishes' atm as it's 33oC here today but they are such gorgeous winter colours! Thanks so much for stopping by!

thanks

 hello stampers!

It's been a while since I played along with freshly made sketches so thought I would join in this week with challenge #534 where the awesome Cecile has a sketch for inspiration.

I began by die cutting the feather and then used the die cut negative as a stencil to ink blend the 3 colours. Then the die cut feather was adhered and the sentiment die cut 3 times, layered up and adhered on top.

I think these are my new favourite colours!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • inks: salvaged patina, pumice stone, stormy sky distress oxides
  • dies: paper rose feather trio, altenew fancy thanks

happy bee-day

 hello stampers!

The team at freshlymadesketches have a new challenge this fortnight with a super simple sketch:

I wanted to use some recently arrived paper from Paper Rose and I felt this sketch would work well with different papers. I'm usually not a big paper user, but this pack is just so gorgeous and being a gardener, I have a lot of respect for the bees!

The first paper layer was trimmed to suit the sketch and adhered, then the second layer was trimmed and then die cut with several hexagon shapes to reveal the first paper layer with the bees! One hexagon was turned over to reveal the other side of the paper with a little daisy. The second layer was mounted on foam squares. The sentiment is from the same paper pack, mounted on white card. The card is finished with a little bow of black & white twine.

I'm also sending this one to Paper Rose for their monthly giveaway - this month the theme is to use Paper Rose paper packs.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies: Paper Rose Bee Hive paper pack, Hero Arts Hexagon Infinity dies, black & white twine

birthday

 hello crafters!

This week the lovely Cecile from freshly made sketches has a sketch for challenge #524

I am a big fan of Cecile's work and can only aspire to have a fraction of the elegance and subtlety she puts in her cards. I had to join in this challenge!

I began by stencilling using Paper Rose Leaves stencil with pine needles distress oxide ink, and then die cut a square using Hero Arts Square Infinity die set. The bird house was die cut twice using Paper Rose Bird Houses die set in yellow and white and the yellow roof and heart were given a wink of Stella for shine. The birds were die cut from the same set, the blue ones using a scrap of ink blended card. The sentiment from Paper Rose Tiny Forest stamp set was stamped directly on the white card base with mustard seed distress oxide ink.

I love this bird houses die set and since it just arrived in the mail this week, I'll enter this card in Darnell's NBUS blog!

Thanks for stopping by!
